The Three Legged Chicken

A man was driving down a country road one day at 45 miles per hour when suddenly he noticed a 3-legged chicken running at the same speed beside his truck.Though he thought this odd, the man decided to speed up so he wouldn't cause an accident with the chicken.The man sped up to 55 miles per hour, but low and behold, so did the 3-legged chicken. The man then sped up to 65 miles per hour only to again be equaled in speed by the 3-legged chicken. As the man watched in amazement, the chicken suddenly made a sharp left turn and took off down a side road toward a small farm. The man quickly also made the left turn and followed the chicken to the small farm, parking out front. Looking around the man found the farmer around back in the midst of many 3-legged chickens.After greeting the farmer, the man asked him why he was raising 3-legged chickens. "Well we figure," said the farmer, "that with an average family of 3 people, only 2 can have a chicken leg with an average chicken. But with a three legged chicken, each member of the family can enjoy a chicken leg of their own." Kites (Hindi) 2010

Well I might be quite late to write this review as most of the people are already talking about Kites being a wasted movie. However, I serious differ from those who have made this idea spread like fire.. Failing at boxoffice usually defines the quality and success of a film. This certainly doesn't mean that the film was an actual trash or absolutely nobody is going to like it.. I mean there aremovies that had sense and inevitably recieved a lot of flak. One that I still remember was "Kaminey".. to me it was an absolute delight and I really liked the performance of Shahid Kapoor and etc.
Anyway, moving to the feature film, its a good effort, deviating from the traditional Bollywood filmcrafting.. And though the director couldn't utilize Barbara Moree properly (mostly due to a weakling script) but you will still enjoy her.. Certainly this one could have gone way too far, breaking the bollywood boundaries.. However, from my side it is till worth an applause..

Well I liked it.. it wasn't boring as hell ..

Inglorious Basterds

By now I have already seen movies like "Fight Club" and "A Curious Case of Benjamin Button" so at least I can't say that this is one of the best movies of Brad Pitt. Nonetheless, he is as  charming and delightful as ever. Somehow, the director of the film, Quentin Tarantino, was amazingly successful in creating a real mixture in which you taste other things than Brad Pitt alone.

It is set in the times of 2nd World War when Hitler was killing jews for the purity of human race or something like that. Somehow, a few of them were able to survive. And this is how the story unfolds till the Jew-killing machines were neutralized by an American group of mercenaries better known as "Inglorious Bastards" led by (of course none other than) Brad Pitt. The most amazing character of the movie, however, was stolen by Christoph Waltz who played --Col. Hans Landa-- and played it masterfully.. His performance might certainly have beaten Brad Pitt for once. It like the 4th idiot (Chatur Ramalingam) of the hindi movie "3 Idiots". Do enjoy the tense war/action movie.

Agora (2009)

A truely wonderful film, by now I have seen it more than once already. A perfect film which is absolutely worth watching. It featured "Rachel Wiesz" in a completely different light, making "Agora" possibly a very important movie of her career. The movie showed the possible events during the departure of humanity from Paganism (popular in earlier eras) to Christianity. How the equality of sex was killed by the religion is shown so tragically that women will like it far more than men.
Anyway, its a story of women with a very high intellect who gets trapped (and killed) in the tumultuous events of the transition of humanity from older religions to newer ones. A masterpiece acting by Rachel Wiesz and an amazing direction by director Alejandro Amenábar.
A perfect 8 is what I think it deserves.

A Chinese Tall Story

Well when you start bad but end up well and satisfied, then it really worth all the troubles. The same thing happened with this movie.. initially it gave an impression of cheap graphics, slapstick comedy and a film barely suitable for even the kids. But then somewhere in between its comic dialogues started to give some laughs and everything got interesting. Thankfully enough,  it looked as if it was not going to end in a real cheap movie.. and it didn't.
Some of the effects were really worth an applause.

Well, if you are experimental and have some time and like for graphical entities, it sure won't leave you completely disappointed.

The House of Flying Daggers is one hell of a great movie.. You wouldn't really be able to locate flaws in such an immensely gratifying work of art. The use of colors e.g. was abso-bloody-lutely amazing and I was instantly taken back to the memories of "Hero". For all those movie-devouring-demons this one is the among the best of the feeds (hehehe -- demons!) . And talking about demons I guess everybody would be dazzled by the beuty of Zhang Ziyi.
The story revolves around a very naive police inspector (of course chinese kind) which unknowingly gets trapped by a clan of assassins known by the name of "House of Flying Daggers" and as anybody can easily guess they are highly proficient in using daggers. But because of his strong heart (emotional quotient) he is saved by a game that he loves to play, called love.
This is the best part of the eastern cinema that they are so committed to their mythology etc. that they really make it happen. Not only that, they beat the shit out of a hundred movies of same genre. And where many movies forget that climax has a max in it, the 'House of Flying Daggers' remembered. The final dagger stunt (see below) was really worth watching. Thats why it scores an amazing 9/10.

Clash of Titans (2010)

Thank God, its not another Percy Jackson!
For those who have seen the Percy Jackson and the Olympions: The Lightening Thief (TLT) would really appreciate the efforts put in this movie. Ti's almost 100x better than TLT.

Clash of Titans (COT) started with a very lame story but got a good grip when Perseus, son of Zeus and a demi-god himself (part god, part human), starts his quest to kill the Craken, a monster created by Hades (brother of Zeus and god of the Underworld). Thanks to a lot to superior graphics used for the movie, the fights look very good. Alas, TLT scored better in choosing Uma Thurman as the Medusa and COT casting director probably wanted low profile actors only.
Anyway, people who would see it in 2D would certainly be entertained far better than what I was after watching it in 3D. Had I not been wearing those pathetic 3D glasses it might have been a real good adrenaline dose! Oh lord Zeus, please help people devise new 3D hassle free technology where there is no burden of cheap and low quality products.

Star Trek 2009

After a real long time had I seen a very good movie ..
It is of superb make, the acting, makeup, visual effects and finally the direction too was of A-one quality. I was just overwhelmed when I saw it.

I guess there is no need to elaborate on its cool effects and etcs ..
And I am damn sure none of you would come and beat me for it.

Astro Boy

Somewhat reminiscent of Wall-E, Astro Boy is a nice animation movie for both kids and grown ups. A classy animation and a good story did help this movie look better than most other animated movies.. One failed attempt that I still remember was "Bolt". Thank god, there is something for the kids in a form they can enjoy.
